Opera Don Calabria

Founded in Verona soon after the Second World War, the Don Calabria Centre is one of the many enterprises implemented by the Opera Don Calabria (ODC). Since then, it aims have been to provide educational and social activities for disadvantaged young people. Gradually the field of interventions has been extended and nowadays, the Don Calabria Centre applies mainly to disadvantaged or disabled people, with a particular attention to the situation of the so called "new poverty" social areas.

ODC employs approximately 260 people, from which 11,5% have disabilities. The activities of the centre are in the fields of health-caring, rehabilitation, vocational training and re-training, social promotion and inclusion, sport and adapted physical activity.

It consists of four main departments:

• The Educational & Vocational Training Department
• The Social & Medical Rehabilitation Centre
• The Sport Department
• The Social Department

Further, the Don Calabria Centre has been active for more than 15 years in international field and in international relation and co-operation with other organisations in the European Union.
