LOS – The National Organisation of Residential Homes and Special Schools in Denmark
LOS, the National Organisation of Residential Homes and Special Schools in Denmark was set up in 1992 and counts about 600 members, most of which are group homes and residential homes for children and youth, but also homes for adults, special schools and other establishments. LOS members address their services to children at risk, criminal children and juveniles, drug abuse victims, people with various psychiatric and psychological problems, and to the mentally disabled. Approximately 4000 clients are served in the member centres.
LOS activities include political work and lobbying, involvement in legislation and guidelines, networking, communication, counselling, juridical and professional assistance, education, development, projects accreditation, and research committees.
LOS’s vision of quality in the social services is that of establishing a business foundation, and by being an accredited institute of quality. This is accomplished through counselling, education, quality development, accreditation and commitment to the European Principles of Excellence.
