Modernisation of Social Services: Facing the challenges

Malta, 29-30 May 2008

On 29 - 30 May 2008 EPR organised its fourth annual Strategic Workshop for Directors on the Island of Malta, hosted by the Eden Foundation. An exceptionally high number of over 30 participants from 21 EPR members representing virtually all countries in the network gathered to explore theme of 'Modernisation of Social Services'. The main question at stake for NGO social service providers today is how “to do more and better with less.” They strive to find the right balance between meeting social needs, responding to the demands of stakeholders and operating successful businesses. Besides the traditional objectives of increasing the understanding of EU policies, exchanging good practices and strengthening links among EPR Directors, this particular Workshop aimed to generate key ideas for an EPR Charter on Modernisation of Social Services. This key document will present a unified EPR approach to Modernisation of our sector towards European and national stakeholders.
