Mission & Vision

AFID Diferença Foundation promotes the autonomy and social support of people with disabilities, including health, education and training. In line with the roots of the foundation, we also fight exclusion and we are committed to and guarantee excellence in service provision.
We promote and support quality and active life for people with disabilities and other target groups in an inclusive society.

Today we are also Fundação AFID Diferença, a Social Solidarity Foundation, created in 2005 by Associação AFID, recognised as a Legal Person of Public Utility N° 13/06, by dispatch of the Secretary of State of Social Security, in 2006. We serve a wide population with numerous Social Responses and Services, essentially covering the area of Disability (AFID REAB) and, crosssectionally, the greater needs in the social area, starting with Early Intervention, monitoring Children (AFID KIDS), youngsters at risk and culminating in the support to the elderly (AFID SENIOR).

Currently the Rehabilitation and Social Centre of Zambujal (Headquarters of Fundação AFID Diferença) provides an integrated functional structure, constituted by a Residential Home, three CAO´s – Occupational Activity Centres that include four workshops: Painting, Paper, Manual Weaving and Ceramics where we highlight the artistic quality of the pieces developed and the promotion of traditional Portuguese techniques. In this field Fundação AFID Diferença has been developing an important work either from a therapeutic point of view (art as therapy), or from the artistic point of view.

• To promote autonomy and social support, health, education and training, in a sustained way, fight exclusion, protect the clients and the heritage of the Foundation and ensure excellency in the provision of services.

Today, Fundação AFID Diferença looks after more than 1300 persons/year in the different existing Structures and Facilities described above, having created more than 150 jobs.

In 2013, we reached a new milestone in our history with the opening of our new social facility AFID GERAÇÃO: a long felt need that will become an area of affection and well-being with a capacity for 60 people, with over 65 years old, in a Residential structure, 50 in Home Support Service and 33 children in the creche; and increasing the number of jobs by about 25.

And we still continue to dream!
