The Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030

The European Commission launched the Union of Equality: Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030. The new Disability Rights Strategy is clearly aligned to the promotion of actions to meet the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

The Strategy is focused around key initiatives that cover three topics: equal rights, independent living and autonomy, non-discrimination and equal opportunities.

The new Disability Rights Strategy is a step further to increase the employment of persons with disabilities and provide adequate support for quality services. The Strategy reflects the input given by European non profit organisations working with people with disabilities or services like EPR. It is an intersectional strategy that looks at overcoming what was left unfinished in the previous one. It frames its actions under a human rights based approach following the UN CRPD hence it aims to empower people with disabilities and promotes and actively inclusive society in the EU.
