General guidelines:
Study Visit option #1:
RevArte Rehabilitation Hospital
Address: Drie Eikenstraat 659 , 2650 Edegem (Antwerp)
As a specialised rehabilitation hospital, RevArte bridges the gap between the acute hospital and returning to a home situation. Their care process is carried out with an outlook of the key question “How can the rehabilitant, with his or her possibilities and limitations, participate as actively as possible in society again?”. For this reason, RevArte approachs the rehabilitant from the specific home situation and social context, including work reintegration. They offer residential and outpatient care, with a focus on four diagnostic groups: patients recovering from a brain injury, patients who have gone through amputation, patients with a spinal cord injury and patients recovering from orthopedic surgery.
Study Visit option #2:
Address: Van Schoonbekestraat 32, 2018 Antwerp
As a school for primary education of type 2, Katrinahof provides education for preschoolers and primary school pupils with a moderate to severe mental disability. They strive to let each student develop according to his or her own possibilities, with a team of specialised teachers and paramedics offering tailored guidance based on the individual needs. They work closely with the parents and family of their students in order to create a strong support system throughout the educational process.
Study Visit option #3:
ZAS Multidisciplinary Pain Center
Address: Kempenstraat 100, 2030 Antwerp
The ZAS Multidisciplinary Pain Center specialises in providing comprehensive care and addressing various aspects of chronic pain problems. Their team consists of pain physicians, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and social workers, with each specialised care provider working on a specific aspect of chronic pain problems. They also take in consideration the social consequences of dealing with chronic pain – loss of social contacts, the confrontation with physical limitations, (temporary) inability to work, financial worries and concerns about the future.
Study Visit option #4:
Address: Waarlooshofstraat 3, 2020 Antwerp
Translated as ‘Youth care Emmaus‘, Jeugdzorg Emmaüs Antwerpen is an NGO that provides children, young people and their families, who live in vulnerable neighborhoods, with new opportunities to grow (shelter, support, guidance, etc.).
