The European Commission launched the 2023 European Semester Spring Package which includes the annual Employment Guidelines. This year, the focus is on promoting employment, fostering a skilled workforce, and establishing future-oriented labour markets. A central objective of this joint effort is to combat social exclusion and discrimination, ensuring social justice, equality, and the protection of fundamental rights. Through new digital and green skills, the EU aims to facilitate sustainable development. Early childhood education and affordable, high-quality long-term care will receive significant investments, aligning with the European Child Guarantee and the Barcelona targets for 2030. Furthermore, the EU is committed to realising the potential of persons with disabilities by setting employment and learning targets in line with the Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
