On 10 April, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) – the science and knowledge service employing scientists who carry out research to provide independent scientific advice to EU policy – organised a meeting to gather stakeholders’ feedback on their work on the DigComp 3.0 – the fifth iteration of the European Digital Competence Framework.
For context, the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp) is a tool developed and updated by the JRC since 2010, providing a common understanding to identify and describe the key areas of digital competence. DigComp aims to help policy-makers formulate and plan education and training initiatives to improve the digital proficiency of specific target groups.
The proposed updates to the DigComp included the following:
Participants are able to provide feedback until 30 April through a survey, and the final version of DigComp 3.0 can be expected in the second half of 2025.
