ESF+ support to the European Pillar of Social Rights

The European Parliament hosted a debate jointly organised by the Social Platform (to which EPR is an associate member) and MEP Brando Benifei (from the S&D group) on how the new European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) can support the implementation of the Pillar. The ESF+ is the EU’s main financial instrument for improving workers’ mobility and employment opportunities and strengthening social cohesion, improving social fairness and increasing competitiveness across Europe for the 2021-2027 period.

The panel debate took place between representatives from Germany, France and Italy respectively who brought the perspective from their countries.

Key points made on the events were: coherence, enough resources allocation and meeting the partnership principle are key to deliver a more social Europe.

Following the debate, participants discussed various topics with the panelists, including the inclusion of the child guarantee, the importance of awareness-raising around the Social Pillar and its full implementation and the role civil society can play in this regard. EPR attended this debate.
