Eurofund Report: Company practices to tackle labour shortages

The Eurofund report, released on 10 September 2024, explores the persistence of labour shortages and labour market slack (the unmet demand for labour in a given population) in Europe. Based on case studies it centres on the recruitment and retention measures that organisations have deployed to address these shortages in 17 different sectors and across 13 Member States. It concludes by providing policy pointers on steps employers can take to fill vacancies, whether acting alone or in partnership with other organisations. For example, where skill shortages are widespread, active collaboration between employers and education and training providers as well as employment services must be enhanced to match skills supply and demand through initial and ongoing training. Many EPR members are engaged precisely in this objective.
