EPR is excited to share that following the Council’s recommendation on strengthening social dialogue in the EU, the European Commission has established the Social Dialogue Committee for Social Services. The Committee aims to improve working conditions for over 9 million social services workers in the EU. Despite being one of the fastest-growing sectors, the care sector is facing important challenges, such as staff shortages and increasing care needs for an ageing population. The European Commission’s 2022 European Care Strategy calls for investment in the social services workforce and collective bargaining. The Social Employers – of which EPR is a member – and EPSU, representing the social partners, welcomed the Committee, highlighting the importance of social dialogue and collective bargaining in addressing sector issues.
