On 20 March 2025, Members of the European Parliament’s Health Committee noted the need for more funding for health in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). Moreover, the Committee called for the post-2027 EU budget to include sufficient funding for public health, prevention, innovation, digital health and health infrastructure.
Health Commissioner Varhelyi responded he would aim to restore Europe’s health budget, which was cut by 20 per cent during the ongoing MFF discussions. The European Commission (EC) is expected to release a draft of the new MFF in July.
