Social Services Helpdesk Launch Event

The HELPDESK is a 2-year project funded by the European Commission aimed at launching the building blocks for a Social Services Helpdesk.  The proposed Helpdesk will have two main priorities:

1. to support social services in accessing and using EU funds (ESF+, ERDF and ReactEU in particular);
2. to help Managing Authorities use EU funds (ESF+, ERDF and ReactEU in particular) to finance quality interventions in the field of social services.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

It is widely acknowledged that, nowadays, social services are facing important challenges, such as chronic underfunding, staff shortages and challenges in transitioning to community-based and person-centred forms of services. EU funds, particularly ESF+ and ERDF, can create key opportunities to overcome these obstacles. However, too often social services struggle to benefit from these funds for 3 main reasons:

• shortage of knowledge and awareness around EU funds;
• complexity of procedures for accessing and using EU funds;
• lack of capacity in maximising the impact of these funds in the social services sector.

In addition to this, managing authorities often face difficulties in using EU funds to finance high quality social inclusion projects.

The EU Commission is currently funding a 2 years-project, the HELPDESK, with the aim of solving these issues and offering concrete solutions to both social service providers and authorities.
