To boost digital education in Europe, the Commission has now opened two calls for proposals concerning training, education and employment in technology, AI, cybersecurity and digital skills. The first one is called “Boost Digital Skills of young pupils” and it strives to augment the number of students in digital education and, thus, careers with a specific focus on increasing the number of girls and women in ICT and STEM subjects. The second one is named “Reinforce skills in semiconductors” which aims to create a new Vocational and Educational Training (VET) platform and constitute a partnership between European SMEs, industries, startups and universities which will take the name of European Semiconductors Skills Academy. These two initiatives’ main goals are to increase the number of specialists in digital advanced technologies, realign the supply with the labour demand in the digital and scientific sectors, and realise the digital transition while increasing diversity, equality and inclusiveness.
