Mission and Vision

The Diakonisches Werk Württemberg is the umbrella organisation bringing together all the social service institutions and bodies within the Protestant Churches in Württemberg. More than 1,400 services and social work units provide help, support and companionship to the elderly and those in need of care, to children, young people and families, to people with mental or psychological health issues, to people with disabilities, the unemployed, the homeless and those in serious debt. In each of the church districts of the regional Protestant Church of Württemberg, there are diaconal district service points. These serve as a first point of contact for people in distress who are suffering from material or psychological hardship.
These service points also offer support to church communities in their own diaconal work.

“People first” is the motto of the entire Diakonie network in Württemberg. It highlights the bond that unites all the services and institutions – what is important to them all. It also provides a basis for the direction in which Diakonie should develop in the future. “

The organisation envisions a fair and inclusive society where diversity is recognized as a value and where people with disabilities actively participate in all areas of life.
