On 7th September the Commission presented the European Care Strategy. This is the first Strategy developed by the EU on the topic of care and aims at ensuring quality, affordable and accessible care services across the European Union. The Strategy sets out initiatives also to improve both the situation for care receivers and the working conditions of carers, both professional and informal, with a focus on training, work-life balance and gender issues. The Strategy is accompanied by proposals for two Recommendations for Member States on the revision of the Barcelona targets on early childhood education and care, and on access to affordable high-quality long-term care.
