“Promoting the Social and Solidarity Economy for Sustainable Development”: the new UN Resolution

The UN General Assembly adopted a formal text containing its action plan to promote the social and solidarity economy to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The resolution provides a standardised definition of the Social and Solidarity Economy, featured by mutual aid, participatory governance, cooperation, independence and autonomy. Moreover, in line with the SDGs, it stands for a people-centred approach rather than capital and profit. Inclusion, promotion of international labour standards, and recognition of labour rights for everyone are the main spheres of action.
