After the Commission’s decision to declare 2023 the European Year of Skills, on the 7th of March the European Parliament and Council presidency found a political agreement on its implementation. It will officially start on the 9th of May and will last for an entire year, and the focus will be on upskilling and reskilling Europeans to further the digital and green transitions. The working agenda will mainly focus on enhancing European companies’ competitiveness and green jobs, together with reducing digital illiteracy. The Commission welcomed the agreement that was found, which now will have to be formally approved by the Parliament and the Council.
