‘Co-Creating Inclusive Education: Empowering VET Staff and Learners Through Video’ Conference

Brussels, Belgium 6 February 2025

The VOLT Project Final ConferenceCo-Creating Inclusive Education: Empowering VET Staff and Learners Through Video”, will take place on 6 February 2025, from 13:30 – 17:30h CET in Brussels, Belgium and online.

This year, the Video Online Learning and Training (VOLT) Project is coming to a close. During its 3 years duration, vocational, education and training (VET) staff and learners were empowered to become digital creators, making educational videos  for individuals who respond best to a visual method of learning. The  VOLT  project also supported the digital transformation of VET services for people with disabilities by creating accessible, inclusive videos for online and distance learning.

The final conference will focus on presenting the main takeaways from this journey:

  • the motivating inclusive procedure of co-designing and co-creating with learners,
  • the video planning, filming and editing skills achieved, and
  • personal testimonies from learners and care providers.

Participants will have the opportunity to see the developed resources within the project framework – the Guide for Staff and the Toolkit for Learners – and of course the videos uploaded to the  VOLT Website and Video Platform. The platform hosts the accessible videos created by staff and learners in VET across Europe, and is a space to share, watch and get inspired. The video categories include educational and skills development videos, raising awareness videos and videos that showcase learnersachievements.

During the event, we will also look at the wider context of inclusive education and digital skills. It will be an opportunity to have discussions with relevant stakeholders on how to move forward in improving digital education and training readiness in VET services for people with disabilities, and how to improve staff’s digital skills so that all learners can be included in online and distance training and learning activities.

The agenda will be published soon!

The project partnership consists of five organisations: Theotokos Foundation (Greece, leader), the European Platform for Rehabilitation (EPR) (Belgium), Fundación INTRAS (Spain), Mariaberg e.V. (Germany), and The Rehab Group (Ireland). It is a project co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Program.

The VOLT project (Video Online Learning and Training) was initiated in response to an ongoing need for inclusive and accessible digital learning opportunities; a need that became all the more apparent during the COVID-19 lockdown. The project aims at creating training resources for staff and learners in VET services for people with disabilities. By equipping staff with the knowledge and digital skills needed to quickly adapt to online training and learning environments, VET services can continue providing inclusive programs to people with psychosocial and intellectual disabilities without excluding them from the plethora of online tools that usually require an adequate level of digital and literacy skills. The familiar but powerful learning medium of videos have been utilised to create a learning platform easily accessible by all. The innovation of this project is harnessing the simplicity of video learning and implementing this familiar and motivating teaching tool in a digital environment in distance learning.
